Rug 7-Step Cleaning System
Step 1 – Inspection
- Determine the fiber type of your rug, which tells us if we’ll be cleaning a natural or synthetic fiber.
- Determine the construction type, which tells us how we’ll clean your rug.
- We test for colorfastness to determine if the dyes are stable or if they are prone to bleeding
- For any pre-existing conditions.
Step 2 – Dusting
We measure and inspect your rug when we pick it up. Once we bring your rug into our facility we do a more thorough inspection. We insect to:
We dust and vacuum your rugs to remove loose and embedded dirt or soil in the foundation of your rugs.
Step 3 – Cleaning Process
Our cleaning process will depend on the fiber type, construction type and colorfastness of your rugs. The best and recommended cleaning process is submersion cleaning. Woven rugs and any rugs with pet urine or waste will be a full submersion, a tufted rug without pet waste can be cleaned with a low moisture cleaning.
Step 4 – Rinse and Extraction
We rinse away any shampoo residue and pet urine from your rug in this step. This process extracts 85 to 90% of the water from your rug. The remaining 10-15% is pulled out in the drying process.
Step 5 – Drying
We have a climate controlled drying room to ensure faster drying times; if rugs take too long to dry or the foundation fibers are not completely dry it can cause problems such as mildew, odor, bleeding and eventually dry rot. We never rely on touch to determine dryness, we use a moisture meter to check the foundation fibers of your rugs to ensure dryness.
Step 6 – Post Inspection & Grooming
After your rug has been cleaned and dried, we inspect again to make sure we haven’t missed anything; if we did we’ll will start the process over. Once your rug has passed the final inspection, we then add deodorizer, groom and wrap your rug for delivery.
Step 7 – White Glove Delivery
Our white glove pickup and delivery service is part of our service of excellence to our clients. When we pick up your rugs, we will move the furniture so that you won’t have to. Our drivers can move most furniture, but larger furnishings (pianos, extra heavy pieces, etc.) may require special arrangements. We just ask that you remove any valuable from the furniture. We deliver your rugs and replace your furniture as if it were never moved.
